The Basic Statistics course is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in statistical concepts and techniques. The course aims to develop students’ understanding of statistical reasoning and their ability to apply statistical methods to analyze and interpret data. Emphasis is placed on developing skills in data collection, organization, and analysis, as well as in drawing valid conclusions based on statistical evidence. Throughout the course, students will explore key topics in descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics involve summarizing and presenting data using measures of central tendency, variability, and graphical representations. Students will learn how to calculate and interpret these measures and use them to describe and analyze data sets.
Inferential statistics focuses on making inferences and drawing conclusions about populations based on sample data. Students will learn about probability theory, sampling techniques, hypothesis testing, and confidence intervals. They will gain the ability to apply these concepts to real-world scenarios and make informed decisions based on statistical analyses. The course will also introduce students to statistical software and tools commonly used in data analysis, such as spreadsheet programs and statistical packages. Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills through hands-on activities, data analysis projects, and problem-solving exercises.
By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of basic statistical concepts, the ability to analyze and interpret data, and the skills necessary to make informed decisions based on statistical evidence. This course serves as a foundation for further studies in statistics and provides practical applications for various fields, including social sciences, business, healthcare, and research.
